Religious Transformation in Maldives

Anyone heard about the New Year 20o9 discos that were been organized and publicized on the radio and TV networks of Maldives? As far as the public concerns the nation of Maldives is a 100% Muslim country bylaw and by official statistics. As we being Muslims we know that our Islamic Calendar is not a Gregorian its Hijiri Calendar we follow through out the year celebrating Ramadan, Eids and other religious holidays.

I have seen the subject matter on public forums and daily blogs which people were commented for and against of this discomania in our society. Some of the comments that are posted in the electronic media are senseless and observations are false about religion and culture. Some of the comments are more disgusting than the others and mocking Islamic scholars and other religious figures to prove their argument about discos. Some suggests that the religion of Islam needs some transformation to fit into this century.

In my opinion having little bit of knowledge and daringly saying that the 21st century doesn’t fit for our belief shows that the ignorant side and faithless minds of these people. I wonder how much they know about religion, community and social ways of our life in Maldives. As far as Maldivian constitution concerns, these people are not fit for the Maldivian community. The constitution clearly states that the Maldivian citizens are Muslims and have an ultimate responsibility in their shoulder to take and behave in accords with rules and laws of Maldives. If they think it is okay for celebrating New Year with few bears or drugs then, I think they have crossed the social boarder line within our society. one of the blogger states that some fanatic creatures use their finger tips to write what they feel and dreaming about every single Maldivian will be on their side for their ultimate truth of the discomania.

Fortunately, an official from Islamic Affairs tried to intervene and stop this indecent nature that our youths are entailing into for the sake of just so called fun. I believe that we have elected a president who has to deal with these sorts of behaviors rather turn from his accountability and discounting his ultimate responsibilities of saving the creed of our nation. As far as Maldivian Constitution concerns the president has sworn into the chair by promising that he will keep the nation in peace in harmony in accord with religion and the Constitution.

  1. This is what it happens when we elect people who are unreligious, greedy, corrupt and inexperienced. We call them as Coca Cola Muslims who just hide under the shadow of religious flag when it is needed and ignores when their fists are full. Who are these people! This sort of people they use their finger tips and communication media to spread their falsehood as gesturing to the public they are the life savers who can comfort us by believing their fanatic ideas. But who are these people? Are you guys out of your mind? Drug, alcohol and sex! Is this what you all are after? Then move on with those communities around the world and if you are guessing Maldives is one place like that then you are in a wrong place! Get a flight to Hawaii or LA!
