President Nasheed says he will do anything he wants and will go against the Parliament and the people wishes - By Haulath

The hell-bent dictator of Maldives Kenereege Anni has said he will do whatever he like and run the country against the Parliament, against the people’s wishes, to maintain his stance about anything he want including the fully defect failure 7 province experiment. Speaking in a news conference given to explain how he will carry on his provincial experiment after the Parliament rejected the idea in favour of decentralisation plans equally impartial to 20 atolls; he vehemently claimed that his Presidential powers are more than enough for him to run the country and defend his actions. Be it making provinces or anything else he wants to do to benefit his cronies he demonstrated he will keep on doing it. Therefore rearding his 7 Province established using his Presidential powers by decree, he declared that he will continue with the employment of his MDP cronies, located in various province offices he formed, in his favourite islands from seven atolls of Maldives.

The sufferings of the beleaguered citizens of the 13 marginalised atolls do not matter to him. Since he formed his 7 province and put the 20 atolls under the command of seven atolls he choose, the 13 excluded atolls and the inhabited islands of those atolls has been starved at country level and community level. They are being deprived of basic resources, infra structure developments, employment and development projects. The Dictator Nasheed has always maintained that 200 inhabited islands are too much of a burden for him and in his Presidency he will not cater for 202 inhabited islands but will disband, destroy the atoll identity and patriotism which is in the blood of the Maldivian people and is part of their identity. In this regard he picked up seven islands, and has put 202 communities under the seven offices located in these 7 islands controlled by his cronies.

As Ali Shared a Facebook commentator has stated on Dictator Mohamed Nasheed’s Facebook page, this despot has no respect for the Maldives Constitution and sees separation of power as an obstacle for his government as many dictators do and need to be thrown out by the people immediately.

The ill informed Dictator Kenereege Nasheed does not realise that he has no quality and values of a real President and that it comes out every time he ended up near a podium talking like an uneducated thug, an MDP activist rather than a President. He was saying in the news conference that the Parliament will never form a law to barricade making of Sewerage systems in the islands, therefore they should not reject the province making bill, and the commentators of the article that appeared in Haveeru were baffled by the man’s talk of nonsense as examples. Furthermore after including the province making issue in the bill of decentralisation the man in the news conference claimed that his self formed 7 provinces on behalf of his activists has nothing to do with decentralisation.

The man does not realise that having included province drama in the decentralisation bill himself, how contradictory and what a fool he is coming across as while holding the presidential post of a respected country. An illiterate and half wit can be a better politician and display more integrity than this man. Let us see how long he can function as a dictator. Not long if he utters such rubbish out of his mouth and go against the Parliament, to run the country using his power of decree and sighting Presidential powers. Does he not realise that these kinds of tendencies and display of behaviours, comments are examples used by people and dictionaries to describe dictators.

The man should realise and respect that the 20 atolls of Maldives are formed along historical, cultural and traditional as well as geographical lines and has long established cultural and traditional values, and what he is doing is creating so much hatred among the atoll communities that has to suffer under his crony headed provinces. Power in the seven provinces, has become a beaurocracy and an obstacle for the marginalised atolls.
There is so much distrust and animosity between the atolls that he has bundled under his seven provinces; it is enough to oust him from his dictatorial infliction of unwanted pain and suffering on the people, an enough majority that can become a powerful force against his dictatorship. All Maldivian islanders and atolls strongly identify with the islands and atolls they belong to. But this man is going against the people’s wishes and without caring one bit is coming out and giving interviews claiming that he can run the country against the people’s wishes and against the Parliament.

Tension is high already among atolls put under the 7 province atolls. Atolls like Faafu, and Ghaviyani atoll has been dissenting against it and the President therefore visiting Addu, quickly went out of the atoll without going to Ghaviyani atoll fearing a demonstration against him. Similarly when he visited Faafu Nilandhoo, all the leaders, and elders came to implore to him about this cruel province decision of his, and the man we call President, after giving them an appointment, made them wait near the front door, then bolted out from the backdoor, leaving the island quickly and secretly. The politics of identity is too strong for his folly of 7 provinces to work. He is elected by the people, approved by the Parliament and can anytime be ousted if the people and the Parliament wants, the Parliament can do so by taking a No confidence vote and the people can do so by rising against him. Therefore he better shut his gob and respects the Constitution and also start doing things according to how the people want, rather than being a washout for his activist cronies.
