Are we really going to elect the Bangkok businessmen and MDP activists in the upcoming Parliamentary Election?

The most noteworthy story in today’s environment is how to become a Parliamentarian Member in the Maldives. By enlarge, whether young or old, people are fighting for the chairs in the Majilis? This trend is entirely driven by the greediness and power hungry norms. The high pay cheque and the green passport are every fiend’s delusion. Most of the candidates who are fighting for the upcoming Parliamentary election are not there to build the country or frame the constitution but to get some publicity and do some dirty jobs by sitting in the Majilis.

Half of them are small businessmen who think they can handle the political challenges faced in the country without much experience of governance, administration, political awareness, education or even without a good track record. Most of them think having a small successful business can endure a responsible and accountable political career.

I would say this is not a Bangkok business where they can deceive the customers branding the products which aren’t original. Sitting and yelling at the members in the Parliament House is what people witness today. When elections are on the horizon these businessmen run around their electorates and give the poor people food, small generators, build jetties and offer short term incentives to buy votes. This is the attitude of the so called Parliamentary members in the Maldives.

The question is how could they frame a constitution of a nation based on their corrupt and illiterate minds? Also, this is what we have being witnessing today when we elected a President who has no proper knowledge and experience to govern a country. We are in the twenty first century world but still our constitution is on their table. People have been witnessed their tedious arguments in the Majilis which are baseless and inappropriate in most cases. The wrangles were just to gain some political points and to show the public how capable they were to implement laws and rules of the country.

We need people who are politically matured and educated to frame the state’s constitution but not people who are businessmen who deceive their very own people. These members in the Parliament have been terrorized the Majilis for decades and still they want to grip the seats to fill their greedy pockets.

Let there be a transformational revolution and bring all educated people into the prospect to create a better constitution and governance for our future generations. This is the time we have to say no to activists, Bangkok businessmen, Katheebs, alcoholics and illiterates. The new regime is not the change we wanted but again this is in our hands to bring a transformational change while bringing the country together and giving the wheel to the educated to paddle the country into a better future.
